About
Tidewire is Joshua Barry — one person, in Melbourne's east, who runs the IT, the Microsoft 365, the website and the Google presence for a handful of small Australian businesses. We say "we" on this site. It means Josh, and it means you'll always talk to the person who does the work.
Who we are
The name is the idea. Coastal-Australian calm on the surface — nobody needs an IT person who panics — and real technical current underneath, from Microsoft 365 administration down to the code on your website.
Vermont South, among the suburbs where a visit is easy — Box Hill, Ringwood, Glen Waverley, Doncaster, Knox. No office to pay for, which is one reason the prices look the way they do.
Support is remote-first: a secure session fixes most things faster than a drive would. Today that means an electrical contractor in Frankston and two occupational therapy practices in Sydney, looked after the same way.
Most small businesses are sitting on a half-configured tenant. Setting those right — MFA, licences, backups, sharing, leavers — is where we add the most value, so it's where we specialise.
The websites we look after are ones we built: fast static sites on AWS, forms that log every enquiry with where it came from, an SEO audit before every deploy. When something breaks, the person you ring can change the code.
Being found on Google — the map, the unpaid results, the ads — is treated as engineering: tracked, reported in plain English, and judged on enquiries rather than impressions.
Tidewire is Joshua Barry trading as Tidewire, ABN 33 701 759 112. Not a company, not an agency, not registered for GST — which is why the price on the page is the price on the invoice.
How we work
Your domain, your accounts, your code, your documentation, your passwords. If you leave, you take all of it — and we'll help you hand it over.
Configurations, vendors, renewals, decisions. Nothing about your business lives only in someone's head, including ours.
Every monthly report shows real hours, real enquiries and real searches. We don't invent statistics, on this site or in a report.
You'll know what's wrong, what it costs and what happens next — before anything starts, and in words you'd use yourself.
Our own tools
Tidedesk is the client-operations platform we wrote for ourselves: every support case, every hour, every invoice, every monthly report and every enquiry from every site we build, in one place — with a portal where you can see your own cases and reports. It's why the reports are consistent, the hours are visible, and nothing gets lost between an email and a spreadsheet. It's also why we're comfortable telling you what good IT looks like: we had to build it to run our own business properly.
Why so small
A helpdesk scales by putting more people between you and the fix. Tidewire scales by being narrow: small Australian teams, mostly trades and allied health, mostly on Microsoft 365, with the same problems solved the same documented way. That's how one person stays fast — and why you never have to re-explain your business to a stranger.
FAQ
Josh. Every remote session, every tenant change, every line of a website. Content and listings work occasionally gets a second pair of hands, but nobody else ever holds your admin access, and you'll always know who you're talking to.
A handful, on purpose — small teams in Melbourne and Sydney, mostly trades and allied health. Enough to be busy, few enough that every one of them gets the person who knows their setup when they ring.
The honest answer to the one-person question. Every client's setup is documented in their own records — passwords in a vault they control, configurations written down, vendors and renewals listed — so a competent replacement could pick it up from the documentation, not from memory. Nothing about your business lives only in someone's head.
Yes. Support is remote-first, which is how two Sydney practices are looked after today. The eastern suburbs of Melbourne are where an on-site visit is easy; everywhere else, it's a scheduled visit or a couriered device for the rare job that needs hands on hardware.
Client tenants are administered through Microsoft Partner Center using delegated admin access — the arrangement Microsoft designed so a business can see exactly what access its IT provider holds and revoke it at any time. It's the right way for a small provider to look after your tenant without holding your admin login.
